WHERE TO DO AND SUBMIT YOUR WORK
FOLDERS:
- Create a folder in Google Drive called "LastName_MAT616_Sp25" and share it with joaquin.o.carbonara@gmail.com
- Create a folder inside "LastName_MAT616_Sp25" called "Work_submitted". I will only look at and grade the files in the "Work_submitted" folder.
- Create a folder inside "LastName_MAT616_Sp25" called "Work_in_progress". Keep your drafts here, and submit them when ready.
- Create a folder inside "Work_submitted" for each week "LastName_Week#". For example "Carbonara_Week1".
OVERLEAF ACCOUNT:
- Create an account in https://www.overleaf.com/. Then create a folder called "LastName_MAT616_Sp25" where you can have all the files for this class.
CLASS FORMAT
- There will be readings and videos to look at before class.
- During class students will work on assignments and get support right there and then.
- two students will each give a 5 min - 5 slides presentation (10 min total) each class.
GRADING
- In class presentations (20% of grade): Each class two students will each make a 5-minute presentation.
- Homework assignments (20% of grade): There will be assignments due the following class meeting, including readings and problems.
- Quizzes (20%): There will be quizzes during class frequently.
- Midterm (20%): There will be a midterm based on the homework and reading.
- Final (20%): There will be a final day activity.
ASSIGNMENT RUBRIC (this is how I will assign grades)
Presentation quality | Overall impression the document gives. How the information is organized. How professional is the document. | 20% |
Labeling and references accuracy | Clear title. Author name. Date. Location. Sources. Anything in general that helps guide the reader through the document. | 20% |
Content accuracy and integrity | How accurate and complete is the material discussed in the document. | 50% |
Creativity, originality and authenticity | Even if this class does not address research activities, each individual answers questions slightly differently. So this part of the grade assesses how the personal talent of the author is reflected in the work. | 10% |
